Delroy Edwards, L.I.E.S., 4 Club Use Only, Chicago, Detroit, LA, NYC, A1 Records,
Delroy Edwards (1959 – 2005) was a Jamaican born refugee who has been refused political asylum in Great Britain and finally died in Kingston. It’s a sad story but it’s not him who did the Phonocast of this week. The Delroy Edwards of today is younger but nevertheless really talented. Formerly working at A1 Records, (maybe the best second hand records shop in NYC), he belongs to the L.I.E.S. crew. Author of the famous tune “4 Club Use Only” which is one of the most massive track of the last months, he just released a new 12″ on the famous NY imprint. The record is called ”Heart And Soul / Sprk Tha Dust”, which seems to be also dedicated to club use only. The young man is living between L.A. and NY, but after having a look at his selections, productions and several mixes, one may think he could come from Chicago or Detroit as well. There are not so many Djs in the L.I.E.S. crew but Delroy seems to take care of the job brilliantly. In this 45 minutes mix, he shows us a deep inclination to move a crowd with some good House music. Good listening !

“….one may think he could come from Chicago or Detroit as well”….actually more like NY/NJ influence with this mix.
Hello Brizzle,
In this mix you’re right
BUT because there is a but, there is others mixes which, I think, can testify what I wrote :
This one (look at the first tracks) : http://soundcloud.com/conceptoradio/concepto-mix-101-delroy
This other One : http://www.xlr8r.com/news/2012/12/check-out-new-mix-delroy-edwards
“but after having a look at his selections, productions and several mixes, one may think he could come from Chicago or Detroit as well.”
Maybe I spoke a little bit quickly for Detroit when I heard the MK but I don’t think Delroy Edwards sets are only about NY and Jersey House. It’s the case on this mix because of Jovonn, Henry Street, Johnny D and Todd Terry’s Work. We can’t reduce an artist to a podcast it’s only a foretaste to see him rock a crowd.
Cheers
S.
